At OSH, ensuring that the patient’s overall experience exceeds their expectations is at the heart of our mission. We have created an environment focused on personalized service to meet the needs of our patients. Our approach to detail allows patients to experience a convenient and comfortable hospital stay in an environment that is sensitive and respectful to them.
To ensure that our patients are receiving the level of service and care they expect, we survey our patients and review their comments weekly. We utilize Press Ganey, a national survey and reporting organization which collects and reports patient satisfaction results for hospitals across the country. This process allows us to quickly identify any issues or concerns that our patients may have and respond to them in a timely manner. By measuring patient satisfaction, we can learn how to improve the patient experience.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has developed the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of healthcare Providers and Systems) survey. This is the first national standardized survey for collecting information on patient satisfaction in hospitals in the United States. OSH participates in this program and surveys a random sample of patients throughout the year and reports the results to CMS. The results are available to the public on www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare.
Oklahoma Surgical Hospital is proud to be recognized by the following organizations in regards to our Patient Satisfaction:
- CareChex, an independent ratings company that evaluates hospitals nationally, ranked OSH in the Top 10% in the Nation in Patient Satisfaction in the categories of Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care, and Overall Surgical Care.
- Press Ganey has awarded OSH the Press Ganey Gaurdian Award for Patient Satisfcation for 2 years in a row. This award honors healthcare organizations that have achieved and sustained a score of 95% or above in patient satisfaction.
- Medicare (CMS) recently changed their HCAHPS rating system on their hospital compare website as it relates to patient experience hospital performance. They have gone to a star rating system with Five-Star being the highest and One-Star the lowest. Oklahoma Surgical Hospital is one of only 251 hospitals nationally that have been rated a Five-Star by Medicare.
