Event for Bladder Health
October 12, 2010
We are hosting a Girls’ Time Out event during November - Bladder Health Awareness Month.  The fun, social event is designed to encourage women to take time out to face bladder control issues and recognize that they are not alone.  We are inviting patients to attend the event to receive educational materials and an opportunity to talk with a bladder health physician who can discuss treatment options.

“One common problem is overactive bladder, which has embarrassing symptoms that seriously impact quality of life,” said Dr. Curt Powell a Urologist with Urologic Specialists of Oklahoma.  “Many patients struggle with bladder control problems for a long time before they are comfortable discussing their condition with anyone.  By hosting a Girls’ Time Out event during Bladder Health Awareness Month, we hope that we will encourage people who are suffering to reclaim control of their health and their quality of life.”

The Girls’ Time Out events are part of a national women’s health campaign called Facing Our Moments Together.  We will host the local event on Thursday, November 11th from 5:30pm to 7pm and 7:30pm to 9pm at the Oklahoma Surgical Hospital’s Atrium (CityPlex Towers 81st Street & Lewis).  The event will be led by Dr. Curt Powell of Urologic Specialists of Oklahoma, who will be available to talk about bladder control problems and available treatment options.   There will be refreshments, door-prize giveaways and free chair massages.  The event will be a fun, interactive occasion for women to learn about, and take care of, their bladder health

One in six adults in the United States suffer from bladder control issues.  There are different symptoms for bladder control problems and treatment options are available that can help.
