Core Surgical Specialties

General Surgery
General Surgery is a specialty that focuses on abdominal organs including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallblader, bile ducts and thyroid gland. Oklahoma Surgical Hospital physicians provide treatment in all of these areas, as well as breast surgery for the treatment of cancer.

Orthopedic Surgery is concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. OSH Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital conditions. Our surgeons specialize in providing the most advanced surgical treatment for joint replacement, spine, foot and ankle, hand, sports medicine and other bone and muscle related injuries.
Neurosurgery is focused on treating the central and peripheral nervous systems  and spinal column diseases amenable to surgical intervention. Neurosurgery has benefited greatly from advances in computer assisted imaging such as CT and MRI. OSH Neurosurgeons utilize the latest medical technology and training in the treatment of spine disorders.

Urology is the surgical specialty that focuses on the urinary tracts of males and females, and on the reproductive system of males. Urologists at OSH diagnose, treat, and manage patients with urological disorders including the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra and the male reproductive organs. They perform surgery for the correction of congenital abnormalities and the management of certain cancers.

Gynecology is the surgical specialty dealing with health of the female reproductive system. At OSH, our gynecologists utilize surgery to treat many disorders that affect women. This includes procedures such as diagnostic laparoscopy, hysterectomy, and tubal ligation.

Cardiology is an internal medicine specialty that deals with disorders of the heart as well as parts of the circulatory system. It includes the  diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease and electrophysiology. Cardiologists as OSH perform a variety of procedures in the Cath Lab for the prevention and treatment of heart and artery disease.

Colorectal Surgery
Colorectal surgery is the surgical subspecialty that treats problems with the rectum, anus, and colon. Diagnostic procedures, such as a colonoscopy, are very import in colorectal surgery, as they can tell the physician what type of diagnosis should be given and what procedures should be done to correct the condition. Colorectal surgeons commonly treat conditions such as rectal cancer or colon cancer. At OSH we often utilize the daVinci Surgical System. Our surgeons are trained with the latest surgical robotic equipment which allows them to perform many complex procedures with greater precision, flexibility and control than standard surgical techniques.

Otolaryngology (ENT)
Otolaryngology deals with conditions of the ear, nose, and throat, as well as related structures of the head and neck. ENT surgeons treat diseases of the ear, nose, throat, base of the skull, and manage treatment for cancer and benign tumors of the head and neck. At OSH, ENT surgeons often perform tonsillectomies, sinus surgery, and myringotomy or tympanostomy (tubes in the ear).

Vascular Center
Interventional Nephrology is a subspecialty practice of Nephrology which focuses on the care and provision of vascular access. Considered a dialysis patient’s lifeline, vascular access requires specialized care and maintenance. In the Vascular Center, Interventional Nephrologists perform a variety of procedures in the diagnosis, repair and treatment of vascular access conditions. These conditions directly impact a patient’s ability to receive their much needed dialysis treatments; hence, interventional nephrology plays a key role in a dialysis patient’s long term health. Diagnostic and treatment procedures include angiograms, angioplasty, fistulagrams, thrombectomy, stent placement and coil placement. Vascular access management often commonly includes the exchange, placement and removal of hemodialysis (HD) catheters. A specialized diagnostic test called vessel mapping is also performed to help surgeons plan for the placement of arteriovenous (AV) access devices.

Other Surgery
We also accommodate patients with many other surgical needs, including breast, plastic surgery and others.
