The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has developed a program to help consumers make more informed decisions by giving them a way to compare hospitals based on quality ratings. They combine 57 quality measures across seven categories and combine this into one overall consumer friendly star rating. This rating spotlights excellence in healthcare quality and can be found at www.cms.gov under Hospital Compare.
Recognized for Lowest Hospital – Acquired Infections
OSH was listed as one of 12 hospitals in the nation for lowest hospital-acquired infections. CMS’ Hospital Compare website lists OSH’s “bloodstream infections after surgery” score below 2.85, compared to the national rate of 5.09.
CareChex Awards by Quantros are based on a comprehensive quality scoring system that compares hospital inpatient quality performance across U.S. hospitals. This rating system provides comprehensive and objective hospital quality performance information covering 39 clinical categories of care in Medical Excellence and Patient Safety.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals analysis reviews hospitals’ performance in clinical specialties, procedures and conditions. Scores are based on several factors, including survival, patient safety, nurse staffing and more. Hospitals are ranked nationally in specialties from cancer to urology and rated in common procedures and conditions, such as heart bypass surgery, hip and knee replacement and COPD.

This award honors healthcare organizations that have achieved and sustained a score of 95% or above in each reporting period for in-patient satisfaction. Press Ganey is a leading healthcare survey and reporting organization with a 30 year history of collecting and reporting patient satisfaction information for hospitals nationally.
Oklahoma Surgical Hospital is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), an independent, accreditation organization founded in 1945 and recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). HFAP accreditation standards validate medical quality and patient safety at OSH though a comprehensive evaluation process.
